Bonaire customs had no clue what amateur radio was or an IARP (International Amateur Radio Permit).
my antenna was held at the airport in customs until i met downtown with mr Trinidad at the customs office.

I showed him an email from Ivan PJ2IV, regarding operation in Bonaire and that seemed to be convincing. He then called Sambo at the airport and told him it was ok to release my antenna. Not a big deal just part of the adventure. While not a big gun i did get on 20M and made several SSB contacts World Wide as N9APA/PJ4. The trip was primarily for Scuba Diving and that was a blast.
